Matthew A. Hemme
Matthew Hemme, an associate with the firm, defends clients in civil litigation matters including products liability, personal injury, asbestos, construction, and maritime. Prior to joining MacDonald Rudy, Mr. Hemme represented plaintiffs and defendants in commercial litigation, personal injury, contracts, asbestos, landlord-tenant, and real property disputes.
Mr. Hemme has substantial experience in all aspects of the civil litigation process, including trial and mediation; drafting and arguing motions, pleadings, written discovery and depositions; legal research; and client relations. Through his broad practice background, Mr. Hemme has developed the skills necessary to adapt to the unique facts of each case and develop creative strategies to efficiently achieve favorable resolutions for his clients.
After graduating from law school, Mr. Hemme clerked for the Honorable Edwin C. Nacino, Circuit Court Judge of the First Circuit, State of Hawaii. As a law clerk, Mr. Hemme developed a strong understanding of and familiarity with Hawaii court rules and procedures. He leverages this knowledge to effectively represent clients and help them successfully navigate the Hawaii court system.
In his spare time, Mr. Hemme enjoys playing basketball and tennis competitively and recreationally. He obtained his SCUBA certification in 1998 and has made well over one hundred dives. Mr. Hemme also completed his basic keelboat sailing certification and has experience sailing monohulls up to 40-feet in length.
